Personal Statement As a registered yoga teacher (RYT 500), certified career services provider (CCSP), and holistic wellness practitioner, Shiva embraces an interdisciplinary approach delivered in an inclusive "East-West" communication style to design and lead culturally-informed wellness interventions and programs, working with diverse ages, stages, and life goals. Shiva's expertise lies in blending the timeless traditions of yoga, āyurveda, metaphysics, and philosophy with the latest-greatest theories and practices of career counseling, educational psychology, and interpersonal coaching and storytelling. Seeing those whom he supports discover who they truly are, watching them cultivate authentic interpersonal relationships, and serving as an accessible, trusted resource on the journey to fulfilling their identity, core purpose, passions, and unique potential as they take pride and are comfortable in their own skin, makes Shiva's day. Shiva's approach is both evidence-based and sourced from a lived understanding that the well-being of the body, intellect, and emotions comprise an invaluable foundation for navigating and finding joy in all areas of life, be it one's health, career, relationships, or material accomplishments. Thus, wellness for all, practiced every day in all (intersecting) spheres of life, is the mantra informing his vision and mission. In addition, as a brown-skinned immigrant, Shiva maintains a special bond with the black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) community. A key aspect of his calling is servicing those marginalized, oppressed, and underserved by parochial structures and systems. B.
